Report: Former New York Red Bulls trialist David Spies isn't coming back

Another potential new recruit can be ruled out.

In the same report in which he killed the Gaelic-footballer-on-trial-with-RBNY rumor, Big Apple Soccer's Kristian Dyer reports the New York Red Bulls have ruled out any further work with former trialist David Spies.

"He's not going to come back," RBNY head coach Jesse Marsch told BAS.

Spies arrived on trial with the Red Bulls in mid-August, shortly after Alexis Meva (now signed with CD Castellon) left the camp. Last week, Marsch Spies had been "sent away for a week", but clearly whatever plan RBNY had for the German-American dual-national has not panned out.

Of the known trialists so far this season, only Gege Soriola - a Nigerian defender, once attached to Montreal Impact - seems to have any continuing connection to the team. Marsch told BAS the club was considering having the player back during the off-season.

Spies had been on trial with New York Cosmos before he landed in RBNY training. Perhaps he will pursue trials with other American clubs. But his association with the Red Bulls appears to be at an end.
