New York Red Bulls II reveals USL playoff schedule

There are concerns about USL's decision to improvise its post-season rules at the last minute, but they have no impact on NYRB II's first-round playoff game.

The identity of New York Red Bulls II's opponent in the first round of the 2016 USL playoffs is not yet known, but the date and time of the fixture has been confirmed.

The game will be played at Red Bull Arena on Sunday, October 2. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 pm.

Tickets can be purchased online, by phone (call 1-877-727-6233) or by redeeming Members+ points (if you are a Red Member with RBNY).

NYRB II will be playing either Orlando City B or Wilmington Hammerheads, and will be heavy favorite to advance to the next round of the playoffs - since neither OCSC B nor the Hammerheads are in great form. This weekend's (September 24 and 25) final round of the USL regular season will confirm the brackets for the playoffs, but NYRB II is assured of home advantage for the duration of its post-season until it gets too close for USL's comfort to revealing its paltry fanbase.

So also pencil in Friday, October 7: the date of a potential Eastern Conference Semifinal at Red Bull Arena, kicking off at 7:00 pm. And Sunday, October 16, when NYRB II might host the Eastern Conference Final at 6:30 pm.

If NYRB II gets that far, incidentally, the Eastern Conference Final is a potential double-header at Red Bull Arena: RBNY is scheduled to play its MLS regular-season home finale against Columbus Crew at 3:00 pm on October 16.

The USL Championship game on October 23 was thought to be NYRB II's to host also, but the league has reportedly made a late change to its rules of competition. But the sudden uncertainty over where the Championship game will be played won't be NYRB II's problem to worry about until or unless it gets through three preceding matches. Starting with Orlando or Wilmington on October 2.
