Watch: Matt Miazga's first assist for Vitesse

How anyone but Lewis Baker gets credit for this goal, we cannot say. But it's official: Matt Miazga made this goal happen.

Even Once A Metro - as die-hard and indulgent a fan of (former New York Red Bulls') center back Matt Miazga as you will find - finds it difficult to accept that Lewis Baker was in any way "assisted" with his long-distance wonder-strike against FC Twente.

But WhoScored.com credits Miazga with an assist for his fellow Chelsea loanee's goal.

So too does Soccerway.com.

And so does the official Eredivisie site.

So that settles it: this is Matt Miazga's first assist in Dutch top-flight soccer, on his debut in Dutch top-flight soccer. A back-pass to the edge of the center circle: not the traditional way goals are created, but Miazga is an unusual talent.

Congrats to Matt Miazga. And congrats to Chelsea, whose inspired decision to loan Baker and Miazga to Vitesse this season has apparently unearthed a quite unexpected goal scoring combination.
