Bulls Abroad: No Haiti call for Derrick Etienne

On the bright side, he will be available for as long as NYRB II needs him in the USL playoffs.

Missing the final cut, after being named to the 30-man preliminary roster: New York Red Bulls' Derrick Etienne. NYRB U-23s' Shelson Dorleans and former RBNY player Andrew Jean-Baptiste also missed out on call-ups for Haiti's October matches.

Les Grenadiers will play French Guiana (at home) on October 5, and St. Kitts and Nevis (away) on October 11.

By missing out on an international cap (again - he has made a number of preliminary squads for Haiti in recent months), Etienne will not have his potential participation in NYRB II's USL playoffs disrupted.

The II team plays its opening match of the USL post-season on October 2. If it beats Orlando City B, it will progress to an Eastern Conference Semifinal on October 7 - a match Etienne would have missed were he required to represented Haiti in Caribbean Cup.

Impatient as Once A Metro is to see Etienne's international career get started, his guaranteed presence for the USL playoffs is a boost to NYRB II's chances of adding to its extraordinary achievements this season.
