Over the weekend, Bradley Wright-Phillips scored a goal for the New York Red Bulls. You might have heard about it. It was a match-winner, and a record-equaler, and it also kept BWP in the hunt for this season's MLS Golden Boot.
Brandon Allen also scored a goal this weekend.
Another day, another goal for @brandon10allen. His 13th of the @USL season!#BSTvNY#REDTogether#NYRBII pic.twitter.com/Fevu27VVrV

And he is in the running for the USL Golden Boot. (USL takes a little while to update its Stats page, but be assured Allen has 13 goals for the season.)
Jack McBean has been sent to Coventry, so he won't be scoring any more in USL this season. Chandler Hoffman hasn't scored in his last seven games. He's surely due a goal or two before the season is over, but Allen has now scored four in his last five games (mostly penalties, but being a penalty-taker on a team that is getting awarded a lot of penalties is the sort of perk that can win you a Golden Boot).
And BWP is in the race for the MLS scoring title because he's knocked in five in his last four games.
The New York Red Bulls are enjoying the services of two of the hottest goal scorers in their respective leagues. And we get to enjoy their respective quests for the Golden Boots of MLS and USL.
RBNY is next in action on September 11 at Red Bull Arena, against D.C. United. NYRB II plays twice on the road this week: at Harrisburg City Islanders on September 7, and at Rochester Rhinos on September 10.
