Official: New York Red Bulls sign goalkeeper Evan Louro to Homegrown Player contract

Another Homegrown-eligible player has come home to RBNY.

The New York Red Bulls have confirmed the long-anticipated signing of goalkeeper Evan Louro to a Homegrown Player contract. The 21-year-old becomes the third 'keeper on RBNY's 2017 MLS roster, joining starter Luis Robles and back-up Ryan Meara.

It is expected that the former Michigan, NYRB U-23s, and US youth national teams player will spend most of his time this season competing for minutes at the USL level - so his face will likely be more familiar to NYRB II fans at Montclair State than RBNY supporters at Red Bull Arena, at least for 2017.

Louro was part of the RBNY Academy's US Soccer Development Academy champion U-16 team, a squad that has contributed several players to the RBNY first team (Matt Miazga, Alex Muyl, Amando Moreno for about a minute) and to pro soccer in general.

He joins the Red Bulls after a three-year career in the college game with Michigan, and a memorable 2016 US Open Cup appearance for Detroit City FC.
