Bulls Abroad: Robles & Kljestan Make Final 23 for USMNT Clash with Serbia

In case you are wondering, Dax did too

With the New York Red Bulls kicking off their preseason tonight against the Portland Timbers, two of their top players will have to wait two more days to see if they step on the field. RBNY ironman goalkeeper Luis Robles and midfield playmaker Sacha Kljestan have been named to the USMNT’s 23-man roster for the match with Serbia on Sunday evening.

Robles & Kljestan were called into camp as two of 32 players. After a few injuries and additions, the US ended camp with 28 players. On Friday, Bruce Arena sent home another five players and chose his final roster for Sunday’s game.

A few ex-RBNY players also made it: Toronto’s Michael Bradley & Jozy Altidore, New England’s Juan Agudelo and (sadly) Chicago’s Dax McCarty.

Luis Robles is still on his consecutive game streak with the Red Bulls, which now stands at 140 MLS games. He has two caps in his career with the US (2009 vs. Haiti and 2016 vs. Iceland). Even though he gave up two goals in each game, he is still unbeaten.

Sacha Kljestan made a long awaited return to the national team as well. Even after a 2.5 year hiatus, he currently sits at 51 caps, scoring six goals.

Good luck to Luis and Sacha in the upcoming game(s)!
