Last week, Atletico Nacional's Alejandro Bernal gave an interview to Colombia's Radio Caracol in which he stated quite plainly that rumors of the New York Red Bulls' interest in his services were true. And that RBNY had a rival for his signature:
"Tengo ofertas del New York Red Bulls y el New York City", Alejandro Bernal.

The player also suggested the matter would be settled "next week" - which is now this week.
The rumor of RBNY's interest in Bernal has blown hot and cold for a few weeks now. He is under contract with Atletico Nacional, but he told Radio Caracol his club would consider loaning him out to a team outside Colombia. He also indicated he simply didn't know if he was going to spend another season with Nacional or not - he was open to either option.
Still, it is now the "next week" Bernal mentioned with regard to determining whether RBNY or NYCFC might be a viable destination for him. The midfielder is currently in preseason training with Atletico Nacional.
