Per the Philadelphia Inquirer's Marc Narducci, Adam Najem's trial with Philadelphia Union should soon reach its conclusion. On Monday, January 30, Union head coach Jim Curtin told reporters, "We'll have some final news coming up hopefully in the next couple of days."
That news will relate to both Najem and fringe US international Fafa Picault. Both of whom "seem like they can really contribute" in Curtin's eyes.
Najem is one of the more highly-rated prospects on the New York Red Bulls' list of players eligible for Homegrown Player contracts. But talks between the midfielder and RBNY have reportedly broken down, and it has been suggested that a trade to the Union is all but completed.
Najem's brother David is on the Red Bulls' USL team, NYRB II, and is currently auditioning for a role with the first team in preseason training camp. Once thought to be destined to play together for RBNY's II team in 2017, it now seems very likely that the brothers Najem will be opponents this season.
