Will Kemar Lawrence be the next Red Bulls star defender sold to Europe?

With the year 2017 winding to a close, the New York Red Bulls transfer rumor mill is churning out some fairly juicy arrival possibilities - along with some transfers out that could leave a very bitter taste in fans’ mouths.

In an interview with the Jamaica Observer, Lawrence revealed that he has one year left on his contract and that his current aim is to ply his trade in Europe. He also revealed that his agent was looking into a club in France that might work out for him, but stopped short of revealing which club - or even which division of French soccer.

Lawrence expressed hope that a move can be done by the end of December. However, he expressed plenty of support for the Red Bulls in the event he stays and even expressed a confidence in being able to captain the team.

Nigerian soccer outlet published an exclusive report on Monday claiming that 18-year-old Jerome Philip has signed a deal with the New York Red Bulls. Per the source, Philip turned down more money to play for teams in Norway and Czech Republic, and plans to join the team before the start of the 2018 MLS season.

Philip plays forward and is expected to join Nigeria’s Under-20 team for the 2019 African Youth Championship qualifying tournament.
