RBNY transfer rumors: Turkish club interested in Kemar Lawrence; Red Bulls want Orlando starlet Silva in Kljestan deal; Griezmann spotted in NJ

Despite recent rumors that Orlando City were “finalizing” a deal for Sacha Kljestan, it appears that the Red Bulls and Lions have hit a snag. According to MLS Transfers, the Red Bulls want the deal to include 19-year-old forward/winger Pierre da Silva. Per the source, Orlando are not ready to part with their rising star.

Silva has spent the better part of the last two years with Orlando City B in the USL, during which he has appeared in more than half of the team’s games and contributed five goals. However, Orlando City head coach Jason Kreis has not seen fit to give him MLS minutes, as he made just one sub in the final moments of a game against Philadelphia this past season. Although, the impending transfer of Cyle Larin could very well force Silva into a starting role.

Former Red Bulls coach Richie Williams thought highly enough of Silva to include him in the 2015 Under-17 World Cup roster back when he was the coach of the US squad.

Given the Red Bull youth movement, Silva seems like exactly the kind of target that the team would pursue.

Turkish outlet Transfer Merkezi, reported on Wednesday that Super Lig giants Fenerbahce are interested in Red Bulls left back Kemar Lawrence. Last year Fenerbahce finished third in the Super Lig - their worst finish on the table since 2009, but still secured a spot in this year’s UEFA Europa League.

It’s no secret that Lawrence has expressed interest in plying his trade in Europe. He has also in the past made reference to the low wages in MLS.

The Jamaica national team star is coming off a superb campaign for the Reggae Boyz in the Gold Cup, after which he was named to the tournament Best XI, as well as yet another solid season with the Red Bulls.

Atletico Madrid megastar Antoine Griezmann attended a New Jersey Devils game on Wednesday in full Devils gear, as he posted on Twitter..

Although he probably won’t even have MLS on his radar for another 6-10 years, it’s reassuring to see that he has a fondness for at least one major sports team based in the Newark-NJ metro area.
