Sky Blue FC announced today its first scheduled preseason match of the 2017 season. As part of a new established club partnership with New York Surf Soccer Club, NY Surf will be hosting a preseason match between Sky Blue FC and St. John’s University at Belson Stadium on Saturday, March 25.
This will be the fifth consecutive year that SBFC and St. John’s University will face off during the preseason. The last time these two teams met in New York was on March 15, 2014, where the NJ squad defeated the Red Storm 1-0 off a late tally by former defender Kendall Johnson. Sky Blue has the series edge with a 4-0 record against St. John’s University, as well as a 10-0 goal differential.
Kickoff for the March 25 showdown is at 3 p.m. ET at Belson Stadium, and admission is free to attend. There is still no word as to when the rest of the SBFC preseason schedule will be announced.
The club partnership with New York Surf Soccer Club will play a role in Sky Blue FC’s goal of trying to establish a stronger relationship with New York supporters, as stated by Sky Blue FC President & General Manager Tony Novo in the club’s press release.
