Like it or loath it, the newly-minted 2017 Red Bulls home kit has arrived. And as indicated via leaks and teasers throughout the past few weeks, the laser pattern made it onto the jersey.
At 4 pm on Friday, February 17, the New York Red Bulls unveiled the new kit in a short video featuring Aurelien Collin, Felipe, Connor Lade, Daniel Royer, Sacha Kljestan and Bradley Wright-Phillips modeling the new threads.
Strength. Speed. Metro.

On the official Red Bulls website, the team explained the theme of the new shirt: Strength x Speed x Metro.
The controversial red lines across the shirt represent both the intersection of youth and talent, as well as the many roads that connect the Metro area together.

Personally, when I see the lines across the shirt all I can think of is this very old meme:
Per the website, the kit will be available for sale on February 28.
While many fans have been underwhelmed by the design, at least one Red Bulls player appears excited to put on the new threads.

It may not appeal to fans in the same way the previous shirt did, but if the team wins some silverware with it, it'll become very popular, very quickly.
