Remember the first game of the New York Red Bulls' preseason - the one against Portland Timbers where some were concerned Kemar Lawrence might have taken a knock? Well, they might have been right.
The Jamaica Observer's preview of the February 3 friendly between the US Men's National Team and the Reggae Boyz includes the news that Kemar Lawrence won't be playing for his country:
New York Red Bulls’ Kemar ‘Taxi’ Lawrence, will be a late withdrawal, after an MRI scan by his club revealed a groin problem.
Oh.
The good news for RBNY fans (but no consolation to Jamaica's supporters) is that Lawrence wasn't expected to feature in the club's next preseason outing - against New England Revolution on the same day USMNT plays Jamaica. And after that, the team has a week off before it has to play in preseason again (on February 10, against Sacramento Republic).
The less good news is that Lawrence had injury issues last season, and they did affect his form and availability. It is to be hoped this latest knock is a minor issue.
