It has already been mentioned by the New York Red Bulls, and re-mentioned by Once A Metro, but let's cover this a third time: Alex Muyl got badly banged up in the team's preseason "friendly" against New England Revolution.
Alex Muyl was rockin' a face mask at #RBNY training.

Yes, under that mask is Alex Muyl.
Back in early February, Jesse Marsch told his squad, "Obviously, the Alex situation has put a damper on on the end of preseason." And we knew that situation was the knock that forced him out of the game against New England. When Muyl didn't play another minute of preseason, we could guess the "situation" was more than bruise. Concussion was this observer's guess, but now that Muyl is fit to be seen in public again the Red Bulls have put an end to any need for guessing. Per Jesse Marsch in an official club report on squad fitness and availability:
With Alex, it was just trying to manage his facial fractures. We expect him to be fit and ready to go for Wednesday.
Facial fractures, you say?
The New England Revolution broke Alex Muyl's face.
The Revs visit Red Bull Arena on May 27. The Red Bulls are surely looking forward to it.
