Sky Blue FC’s Sarah Killion and Kelley O’Hara are two of the 25 players selected by U.S. women’s national team head coach Jill Ellis to a the roster for a training camp prior to the 2017 SheBelieves Cup. The tournament will feature four of the five best teams in the world as ranked by FIFA: USA, Germany, France and England. The tournament will feature three doubleheader events at three different venues over a seven-day period.
Both SBFC players were present at the USWNT January training camp that took place at U.S. Soccer’s National Training Center in Carson, Calif. from January 12-23. O’Hara was one of the original 29 players named by Ellis, while Killion was invited the following day. This marks the third time Killion has been called up to the senior national team as she looks to earn her first cap during the tournament.
The USWNT team will report to camp in Orlando, Fla. on Feb. 20 for a week of training where Ellis will finalize the 23-player roster for the SheBelieves Cup. The final squad will then head to Philadelphia to kick off the second annual edition of the tournament on Wednesday, March 1 at Talen Energy Stadium. England will open the tournament against France in Chester, Pa. (4 p.m. ET) followed by the USWNT taking on Germany (7 p.m. ET on FS1).
Teams will then travel to New Jersey where France will face Germany on Saturday, March 4 (2:15 p.m. ET) followed by USA vs. England (5 p.m. ET on FOX) at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ. During the NWSL and A+E Networks joint press conference on Feb. 2, U.S. Soccer President Sunil Gulati said that Sky Blue FC defender Christie Rampone will be honored at a game next month, which many believe will take place during the New Jersey match.
The tournament will finish at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, March 7 when Germany faces England (4 p.m. ET) and the USWNT takes on France (7 p.m. ET on FS1).
