Report: Kemar Lawrence out of New York Red Bulls squad to face Seattle Sounders

For personal reasons, says RBNY.

Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

A brief and unexpected announcement from the New York Red Bulls revealed Kemar Lawrence won't be playing in the team's MLS match against Seattle Sounders on March 19. He is away for "personal reasons".

RBNY coaching staff did not mention any likely absence for Lawrence during the regular post-training media sessions that punctuated the build-up to the game in Seattle - but personal reasons are personal reasons. Whatever Lawrence is attending to is clearly important. Once A Metro hopes it is resolved quickly and positively for the Red Bulls' starting left back.

Justin Bilyeu stepped in to Lawrence's place in the starting lineup against Seattle.

The Red Bulls' next competitive game is against Real Salt Lake in MLS. Lawrence is a senior member of the Jamaica national team at the moment, but the Reggae Boyz do not have games scheduled for the March international window. If the matter that called him away from Seattle can be resolved quickly, he should be back in the RBNY lineup for the RSL game on March 25.
