Finnish top-flight team Seinajoen Jalkapallokerho (SJK) announced it had signed Anatole Abang on March 28, 2017. The New York Red Bulls have echoed that announcement about a week later, which is record time for a club that once sent the player on loan without any official statement at all (eventually providing comment on Abang's loan to Hobro IK about two weeks after it had been announced in Denmark).
RBNY's official confirmation of SJK's big news from a week ago also confirms the terms of the deal described by the Finnish club: Abang is on loan until July, with an option for the loan to be extended through the end of Finland's 2018 season (which is more or less the same as the end of the MLS 2018 season). It is believed that Abang's contract with RBNY expires at the end of 2018.
Abang's new club kicks off its 2017 league campaign on April 5, at home against FC Lahti. SJK is scheduled to play 16 league games before Abang's initial loan expires on July 15, so he will get a reasonable chance to audition for the extension to 2018 in his contract.
