Per an official club statement, and as forecast by head coach Jesse Marsch, the New York Red Bulls will be supplying a number of first-teamers to NYRB II's cause for the reserves' April 5 game against Harrisburg City Islanders.
Ryan Meara, Michael Amir Murillo, and Alex Muyl have all be loaned down to the II team for the match at Red Bull Arena. Fans attending - get tickets here - will be the first to see Murillo play any competitive minutes for the Red Bulls.
Marsch had also mentioned Gonzalo Veron and Derrick Etienne as candidates to play for NYRB II in this game, but Veron is now in Argentina and Etienne started for the first team on April 1 against Houston Dynamo.
The trio loaned to the II team might not be the only MLS players participating in the II team's game against HCI. The reserve team has already named Justin Bilyeu, Connor Lade, Arun Basuljevic, Hassan Ndam, Dan Metzger, and Brandon Allen to its 2017 roster - all technically loans from the RBNY MLS squad. Basuljevic and Ndam look set to be II team regulars this season. Lade is nursing an injury sustained against Houston and seems unlikely to be in need of reserve team time for the foreseeable future. Bilyeu was a starting center back for NYRB II against Richmond Kickers on April 1. Allen would seem likely to benefit from some minutes and would be an unsurprising starter against HCI.
The match kicks off at 7:00 pm at Red Bull Arena on Wednesday, April 5. As is always the case with NYRB II, expect tickets to be easily available.
