Report: Luis Gil will join Orlando City on loan from Queretaro

Just in time to play RBNY, if Jason Kreis feels inclined to throw Gil on to the field right away.

The Orlando Sentinel's Alicia DelGallo reports Orlando City has finalized a deal for Luis Gil, bringing the 23-year-old back to MLS from Liga MX's Queretaro on loan. A regular US youth national teamer in his day and also in possession of a couple of USMNT caps, Gil developed his reputation at Real Salt Lake under Jason Kreis. Kreis is now head coach at Orlando City, which is perhaps the only reason to believe a player signed three days (the Sentinel reports OCSC will confirm the deal on Thursday, April 6) before Orlando plays the New York Red Bulls might have any impact at all on RBNY.

Gil, of course, would have to prove his fitness and form before jumping into the match against the Red Bulls on April 9. Though Kreis perhaps knows better than anyone what the midfielder can do, the player hasn't had a lot of time on the field for Queretaro. Since joining the Liga MX club at the end of 2015, Gil has made 10 league appearance and four in Copa MX. He might need a little time to get up to speed.
