The early rounds of the US Open Cup are often a little difficult to follow, but that issue seems to be receding every year. In 2017, most of the 28 games of the first round will be live streamed - including NJ Copa FC vs FC Motown.
FC Motown is coached by former New York Red Bulls Homegrown player, Sacir Hot, who has generously talked Once A Metro through every round of his team's Cup run since it started its qualifying campaign back in September. The roster to face NJ Copa FC includes former NYRB II player Franklin Castellanos.
Since it was founded in 2012, Motown has quickly emerged as a force to be reckoned with on the New Jersey amateur soccer scene, but this is its first appearance in the main draw of USOC.
NJ Copa FC is the NPSL team for the FC Copa Academy, a large and established New Jersey soccer academy system, but this is the club's USOC debut also. The team made the regional finals of the 2016 NPSL playoffs, utilizing a squad that included a large contingent of current FC Motown players, as it happens.
