A report from the Portuguese Football Federation carries news of a U-20 World Cup warm-up game between Portugal and the USA.

The USA lost the game, 2-1, but the report states Tyler Adams opened the scoring. Portugal equalized two minutes after Adams' 20th-minute goal; the match-winner arrived in the 80th minute. There is not much else to be gleaned about the USA's efforts in the match. A highlights video only covers Portugal's goals.

The Portuguese made several substitutions throughout the game, as one would expect in a warm-up. Doubtless the USA was also conducting its own lineup experiments.

Portugal was a semifinalist in the 2016 European U-19 Championship that was the UEFA qualifying tournament for the U-20 World Cup. Its World Cup starts on May 21 against Zambia. The USA gets its competition started on May 22 with a game against Ecuador.

New York Red Bulls Academy graduate and current RBNY first-teamer Adams is expected to play an important role for the young Americans in South Korea.
