Why do I love Sky Blue FC? How could I not?

The question of why I love Sky Blue FC is one that’s difficult to answer. I came late to my love of soccer, and I came to my love of soccer through my love of the players. I met Jill Loyden, our current Goal Keeper coach at a gala for the Jillian Loyden Foundation. The next year I went back and had a blast with her and met some of the incredible women who play on Sky Blue FC today.

Going to my first Sky Blue FC game was somewhere between overwhelming and the most incredible thing I had ever experienced. I realized that I had found my people, Sky Blue FC, the fans, coaches, players, they are my people.

I’ve said before that when you attend a Sky Blue FC game, the energy is palpable. The crowd feels like it’s plugged in, because you can hear the cheers from the far end of the parking lot. The bleachers feel electric, not literally, but that is how much energy is coursing through the stadium from kick off until the final whistle blows.

But even watching the game at home, the thrill is still there. It’s the players, they put their all into it, and we can see that either on television or on YouTube, you can still hear the cheers of the crowd, and it’s almost like your living room becomes the stadium.

The question shouldn’t be why do I love Sky Blue FC, the real question is how could I not?
