For USMNT fans, the most important game in the round of 16 of the 2017 Men's U-20 World Cup is the one on June 1 between the USA and New Zealand. But the second most-important is this one: the game that will decide which team the US plays if it makes it through to the next round.
Venezuela is one of the form teams of the tournament coming out of the group stage: it won Group B handily, winning all three of its games without conceding a goal. Japan, however, was the top team out of Asian qualifying and had to fight its way out of Group D, which looked more challenging than Venezuela's group. The Japanese have only won one game so far at this competition, but they fought back from two goals down to tie Italy - they are no pushovers.
In the knockout rounds, games that are tied after 90 minutes go to extra time, and if the teams are still tied there will be a penalty shoot-out.
