RBNY player ratings vs NYC FC - Scoring woes return as Red Bulls lose Hudson River Derby showdown

Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

Well the Red Bulls were bound to lose a home game to NYC FC sooner or later. It's just a shame that it had to happen right as it looked like they were starting to get into a groove.

Without going into the gory details, the Red Bulls were outmatched and outclassed by Patrick Vieira's side, failing to score a goal for the sixth time this season and were beaten badly in the high-press.

It's unfortunate that for a game where Red Bull Arena finally looked completely full, the rest of the team failed to show up.

The summer transfer window truly can't come fast enough...

Here are the RBNY player ratings vs NYC FC:

Luis Robles - 6

Kemar Lawrence - 7

Aurelien Collin - 7

Aaron Long - 7

Michael Murillo - 5

That yellow card early in the game was costly as it forced Jesse Marsch to take Murillo out early to avoid falling a man down.

Tyler Adams - 4

Though his work keeping David Villa on ice was admirable, Adams had a tough time handling NYC's high press

Felipe - 7 (Man of the Match)

Just about the only player who seems to have shown up on Saturday, Felipe drew yet another yellow card from an opponent  and had some of the best chances the game produced. That said, being the best of a really bad group of performers isn't much of a compliment.

Alex Muyl - 5

Sacha Kljestan - 4

One of the sloppiest performances from Kljestan in, well, weeks. Poor decision-making, lack of chemistry with BWP and all-around poor form have made the Red Bull captain's third year a waking nightmare.

Daniel Royer - 4

Bradley Wright-Phillips - 5

Subs:

Gonzalo Veron (for Daniel Royer) - 4

Sal Zizzo (for Michael Murillo) - 5

Connor Lade (for Tyler Adams) - n/a

Hopefully the Red Bulls can rebound quickly, because they will be hosting the Philadelphia Union in a U.S. Open Cup Match on Wednesday.
