This was the best 5th Round Proper I have ever seen since US Soccer created that round. If the goal by Christos FC against DC United didn’t get you excited for this tournament, then the matches that went into extra time and the penalty kick shootouts definitely have.

The lore of FC Cincinnati continues to get bigger and bigger as they did the most normal thing a lower level side can do and that is knock off a giant, a four time US Open Cup Giant in the Chicago Fire.

How about what’s going on with Miami FC? What they have done in league play has been incredible, but going thru a huge Open Cup run is just amazing. Mostly staying in the state of Florida and getting a huge victory at the death against Atlanta United.

FC Dallas looking strong, the western conference sides doing a job as the LA Galaxy & San Jose Earthquakes advance to face each other and then the New York Red Bulls advancing to the Quarterfinals with a penalty kick shootout of their own to get revenge on the Philadelphia Union.

This has been a very exciting edition of the US Open Cup as we are seeing major upsets going on and when we get to the quarterfinals, it will be Miami FC hosting FC Cincinnati and it should be a lot of fun. But I will say that this was a thrilling fifth round and we shall see what will happen.
