New York Red Bulls fan would like to play pro soccer

Giuseppe Rossi is a professional soccer player who would like to play professional soccer, according to persistent reports over the last month or so.

Benevento Calcio v Genoa CFC - Serie A

New York Red Bulls fan Giuseppe Rossi is a professional soccer player. He has been a professional soccer player since he was 17 years old: with Manchester United, Newcastle United, Parma, Villareal, Fiorentina, Levante, Celta Vigo, the Italy men’s national team as well as a string of Italy youth national teams, and most recently Genoa.

But Giuseppe Rossi left Genoa in the summer of 2018 with a reputation for being increasingly injury prone and the threat of a one-year ban for doping hanging over him. This made it difficult for him to find another job playing professional soccer.

Rossi has been training with the New York Red Bulls while waiting for his next gig. And since his name was cleared and the doping-ban threat was lifted, he has apparently been scouring the globe for another place to play.

In early November, reports out of Australia advised Rossi’s wage demands had scared off A-League clubs Sydney FC and Wellington Phoenix. By mid-November, he’d been linked to third-tier Italian club Juve Stabia. Toward the end of the month, he was telling ProSoccer USA’s Glenn Crooks he would “love to sit down to talk” with a club in the New York/New Jersey area where he was born and raised.

The latest reports concerning Rossi find him expressing his abiding love for Fiorentina and telling Sky Sports that he’d “love to return to Italy”.

In summary, Giuseppe Rossi is a professional soccer player. Based on the evidence of the last month, he’d like to play professional soccer.
