Thanks to goals from Josef Martinez and Franco Escobar, Atlanta United beat Portland Timbers in the 2018 MLS Cup Final. Thanks to Atlanta United winning the 2018 MLS Cup, the New York Red Bulls have qualified for the 2019 CONCACAF Champions League.

The Red Bulls have been drawn against Caribbean Club Champion Atletico Pantoja of the Dominican Republic in the opening round of CCL 2019.

As the higher seed, the Red Bulls will play away from home in the first leg of the home-and-away round of 16 series.
The first leg is expected to played in Dominican Republic between February 19 and February 21. The second leg at Red Bull Arena is scheduled for February 26-28.
The winner will play a CCL quarterfinal against either Honduran club Marathon or Liga MX’s Santos Laguna in March.
