For the first time in his career Andrew Tinari earned a spot in the USL Team of the Week. Tinari played a big part in New York Red Bulls II’s 2-1 win over Toronto FC II on Saturday with two goals in the second half. With the two goals Tinari has already equaled his total for his career and earned himself a spot in the USL Team of the Week for Week 1.
It was Tinari’s first time starting in the number “10” role and in addition to the two goals, the midfielder completed 81 percent of his passes and tied for a team high five chances created. Last year Tinari spent most of his time playing in the “6” and “8” roles and has shown that he can be a versatile player for NYRB II and will play wherever he is needed.
Wherever they need me I’m not going to complain as long as I’m playing. We have new guys, so I’m the older guy now technically, so wherever they need (me) I’m going to go.
NYRB II will look to continue their streak next week when they travel to Atlanta to take on Atlanta United 2. The game will take place on Saturday, March 24, at 7:00 pm.
