Stefano Bonomo named to starting XI for 2018 USL Team of Week for Week 5, Brian White named to bench

For the second time in three weeks New York Red Bulls II had two players selected to a 2018 USL Team of the Week. Stefano Bonomo scored a goal and added two assists while Brian White came off the bench and scored two goals within a span of six minutes in NYRB II’s 5-0 win against Tampa Bay Rowdies on Saturday. Bonomo’s performance earned him a spot in the starting eleven for the USL Team of the Week for Week 5 while White made the bench.

It was the third time a NYRB II player had been selected to a USL TOTW this year and the second time two players were selected in the same week. For Bonomo and White it was the first time this year that either of them earned TOTW honors.

Manager John Wolyniec had high praise for both strikers after the match for their big performances.

It’s great to see Bonomo get a goal, he’s had a couple injuries and illnesses which has kind of thrown off. It’s good to see him have a good game and put a lot into it. It makes me smile to see Brian come off the bench and say hey what’s going on why I am not starting. We think highly of Brian and it’s going to be competitive, it’s not going to be easy to make decisions of who starts.

NYRB II will look to earn their first road win of the season when they travel to take on LA Galaxy 2. The game will take place on Sunday, April 22, at 8:30 pm.
