Another big event is coming to Red Bull Arena. Once again we will have the city become electric and the lights will be bigger and brighter as New York City will once again have another derby match being played at the stadium made for the game in this country.
On Thursday morning US Soccer created a brand new fourth round draw and drew thirty-two teams to face each other from eight different regions and with the Red Bulls in the Northeast region they were paired to play NYCFC for the second consecutive Open Cup season.
Being in a group that also had the New England Revolution and third round winner Louisville City who are the defending USL Cup Champions was going to be an interesting task and once the Draw assistants opened the envelops, the Red Bulls were chosen to host their match.
The next envelop to open to host was Louisville City, but when the third envelop opened for the road teams NYCFC was paired with the Red Bulls and then the New England Revolution were next to make road trip plans to Louisville, Kentucky.

This is a huge moment once again and while many were hoping this matchup would be in the later rounds, sometimes you have to take the pros and cons and see what is going on with these types of situations.
“When I knew who we could draw, i knew who we would draw and I figured we would be playing at home because they can’t always get access to the Stadium.“ said Jesse Marsch.
“Whtever it is you have to step up and be ready and we will be missing a lot of guys for International break and so will they, will put everything into it and so will they. Let’s get ready for it and it will be alot of fun.”
The dates for the Fourth Round of the 2018 US Open Cup will be either Tuesday, June 5th or Wednesday, June 6th. Make no mistake about it, the Red Bulls who were Open Cup Finalists last season are going to try and make a run again in 2018.
