It was a fantastic two days of Open Cup action as the teams from the lower levels faced off against sides from MLS and of course we can’t forget those games where MLS sides faced each other and one of those games was a long eleven round penalty shootout.

Well after all that excitement US Soccer performed their 5th round draw this erly afternoon as the sixteen sides drawn in their respective regions will fight to see who will face whom in the 5th round and the winners will automatically advance to the Quarterfinals.

From the East Region the New York Red Bulls will travel down I-95 and face the Philadelphia Union at Talon Energy Stadium while DC United will host Orlando City in their end of the bracket.

In the Mideast Region Atlanta United will host the Chicago Fire and the two USL sides will clash as Louisville City will host Nashville SC, then in the Midwest Region the Houston Dynamo will host Minnesota United FC while Sporting KC will host FC Dallas.

Then in the West Region. MLS expansion side Los Angeles FC will host the USL Sacramento Republic while the Portland Timbers will host the Los Angeles Galaxy as these games will be played between the 16th thru the 20th in the month of June. The Quarterfinals will be played in July on the 18th

So the next phase for the Red Bulls in their quest to reclaim the champions final match will be heading thru Philadelphia and if they do defeat the Union, then the Red Bulls will be able to host the Quarterfinals against either DC United or Orlando City.
