The International Break is here on the FIFA calendar as players selected for their respective National Teams have been called in and are getting ready to face some stiff competition and one of those opponents the USA will face in the month of September will be Brazil this coming Friday at Met Life Stadium.
That means the New York Red Bulls are allowing the US Men’s National Team to use their facility to prepare themselves to take on those famous yellow and green shirts which will have Neymar facing against them on Friday, September 7th.
This also signals the start of a brand new World Cup Qualifying cycle for the USA now that we are at the end of the Russia World Cup Cycle as a whole. These September Friendly games always signal the start of a new cycle once a World Cup year is at the end.
“It’s great. Obviously we want to put the past behind us as we all know what happened. We want to put a clean slate and a fresh start as well so we are ready to go and we are very excited for that.” said Cameron Carter-Vickers.
But at the same time for Carter-Vickers he will be considered a veteran for this young squad as he has played a little bit more for the National Team and trying to be that player for those to talk to and get advice.
“I think so but it’s been like that for the last couple of games, but I am use to it by now. It’s a young and hungry group, so I think everyone is excited and everyone is ready to take on these tough opponents we have in front of us.” said Carter-Vickers.
Of course the one player that is no stranger to the New York City/ Northern NJ area is the player I call football royalty as the son of George Weah in Tim Weah is going back to the Red Bulls training facility as he was once a member of the club before heading to PSG where he is teammates with Neymar and now facing Brazil in a first team friendly
“First of all it’s always an honor to be in camp with these guys and the coaching staff, but playing against Brazil is a dream come true, they are a legendary team winning five world cups.” Said Tim Weah.
“Everyone wants to play against and they have a group of players who are legendary already and they haven’t reached the peak of their careers. As we’ve said Neymar, Marquinhos, all those guys I have watched on tv and I want to emulate.”
But as we already know on the Red Bulls side of thing there will be three to four players coming in on this roster as Tyler Adams, Tim Parker, former Red Bull center back Matt Miazga will come home, but first time US Men’s National Team Camp for Aaron Long as he has earned a call up for his stellar work partnered with Parker.
“Just getting to know him day to day, I’ve never trained with him. Followed him very closely and there’s certain attributes that translate well in the senior level. He’s got some speed and athleticism and he’s formed a good partnership with Tim (Parker), logging a lot of minutes so now we want to see what he can do.”
This is going to be a huge match up for these kids that faced a tough French side before the World Cup and now it’s time to bled them into another tough match up as they face a five time World Cup champion in Brazil on Friday night.
