As the summer of soccer continues for the US Soccer as the Women are getting ready to face the host nation of France at the Quarterfinals of the Women’s World Cup,l and the men’s team winning their group at the Gold Cup, with a Quarterfinal date against Curacao, the New York Red Bulls are about to get back into the swing of things restarting their league season.

Since they were eliminated from the US Open Cup, the Red Bulls have been resting, and training for their next opponents in the Chicago Fire who also got eliminated in the US Open Cup against USL Championship side Saint Louis FC

At the moment the Chicago Fire are just below the playoff line as they are behind Toronto FC by a full three points, since TFC defeated Atlanta United three goals to two in mid-week action.

“It feels good to get back into league play. It’s nice to get back out their for this game on Friday, It was good to get a break, and refresh your mind. To recover physically, yes we are excited and ready to face the Fire.” said Daniel Royer “They have high individual quality players, they have good 1v1 players, and they spread the field.

“They have some new quality players in their squad, and highly experienced defensive players in their side. We need to have a good team performance, and we need to get the full three points.”

Once again we will see that duo of defenders facing the Red Bulls as Dax McCarty & Bastian Schweinstiger will play their suffocating defense against the Red Bulls formation of a lone striker in a 4-2-3-1. It also means the defense of the Red Bulls must be ready for Nemanja Nikolic, C.J. Sapong who has been a Red Bulls killer and Aleksandar Katai as well.

“We play them a lot because they are in our conference, They are a good team. You look at their roster, from their sixes to their attacking pieces.” Said Luis Robles “They are very dangerous, and I don't think their record reflects on what they are capable of.

“As they go into the second half of the season, they are going to try and right the ship for themselves. It’s going to start with this game and we have our own agenda, as we want to climb the standings ourselves, with the new playoff format.”

But there looks to be good news on the horizon for the Red Bulls as we saw some posts from the clubs twitter handle show some impressive, and positive pictures of one of their top players.

“It’s been a while and honestly I feel good. This is one of the best days I have felt in training. I think I joined a few in a week ago, I wasn’t moving well, but this time around I feel sharp and ready to go.” said Bradley Wright-Phillips “The most I have trained in were three, but they were modified, but this time I was able to complete the session.

“Early in my career I had a knee injury that kept me out for half of the season, but since then I’ve been fine, I’ve never been out this long. During this time I had to be a real father, I had to actually take part at home, so it’s been hard to train. But I’m glad to be back

As of right now it looks like Bradley wright-Phillips is back at training and he is on full contact at the training ground in East Hanover, NJ. While the kids who filled in magnificently in Tom Barlow & Brian White, the truth is that it’s going to be a wonderful feeling to have #99 back on the pitch.

“When we know on the inside what Brad means to the team, we’re all happy to have Brad back.” said Chris Armas “Because you see what the training looks like when he’s out there, from the passing exercise, to the competitive nature, and all of a sudden having him at every video session.

“So that’s how we feel having him, then seeing him happy, it’s not so much fun being on the sidelines, trying to figure this out, when he’s coming around. He’s never known that life as this man has found ways to stay healthy. To see him back involved, touching the ball scoring goals regularly, it’s a great time for us and him.”

For the New York Red Bulls it’s going to be a great feeling for them to get back on the pitch, and earn another three points, as they have a chance now to leapfrog Atlanta by a single point.
