Sky Blue FC adds to more draft picks in Friday's NWSL draft

With two days to go before the annual college draft, the Sky Blue FC traded away Kendall Johnson for two more picks, giving them six picks.

With the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) draft just two days away, the draft picks are beginning to pile up for the Sky Blue FC.

The Sky Blue FC has reported trading Portland native Kendall Johnson to her hometown Portland Thorns FC in exchange for the 25th and 34th overall picks in Friday's college draft. The draft will be held at the National Soccer Coaches of America Association annual meeting and conference in Philadelphia.

The Sky Blue FC will now have six picks including the second and 10th picks overall, in the college draft. The team also has the 22nd and 28th picks overall.

"We want to thank Kendall for her contributions over the past two years,"Sky Blue FC technical director and head coach Jim Gabarra said in a release on the team's website. "She came in here and earned a starting spot, giving us valuable minutes at the left back position. We would like to wish her all the best with her hometown team."

Johnson appeared in 37 matches over the last two years after being the No. 12 selection of the 2013 college draft. She started all 20 matches her rookie season with two assists. She played in 15 matches last year,starting in 12. She played four years at the University of Portland.

The 2015 NWSL college draft will begin on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
