Red Bulls Announce Protected List

Luke Rodgers is protected. Any surprise there?

Really, I just wanted an excuse to use this picture.
Luke Rodgers is protected. Any surprise there? Really, I just wanted an excuse to use this picture.

The Red Bulls announced their protected player list ahead of Wednesday's expansion draft earlier today.

Without further ado...

Protected:

Defenders: Stephen Keel, Roy Miller, Tim Ream, Jan Gunnar Solli
Midfielders: Joel Lindpere, Dax McCarty, Rafael Marquez, Dane Richards, Teemu Tainio
Forwards: Thierry Henry, Luke Rodgers

Exposed:

Goalkeepers: Bouna Coundoul, Alex Horwath, Frank Rost, Greg Sutton
Defenders: Chris Albright, Mike Jones, Tyler Lassiter, Carlos Mendes, Teddy Schneider
Midfielders: Stephane Auvray, Mehdi Ballouchy, Brian Nielsen, Marcos Paullo, Carl Robinson, John Rooney

It was wrongly reported in last week's post, that Lassiter is a protected player by Homegrown/Generation adidas rules. Also, Sutton, who was not included in the initial post and was on loan to the NASL Montreal Impact for the tail end of last season, will be exposed.

As far as the aforementioned post, and the speculation therein, I got a 10 of 11. Mendes is left exposed while Miller is going to be protected.
