Some RBNY Personnel News on EPL Transfer Deadline Day

Will the Frank Rost era see another season?
Will the Frank Rost era see another season?

While the rest of the world has their eyes fixed on the Premier League transfer window that closed but an hour ago, the down-on-their-luck Red Bulls have some player news of interest to those of us on this side of the pond.

  • The New York Post reports Eric Soler and Hans Backe expect Luke Rodgers back within two weeks. Backe told the Post he's not concerned with fitness because of Rodger's work rate, but doesn't want to see Rodgers aggravate the nagging heel injury. Reading between the lines, don't expect Rodgers to play the full 90 any time soon.
  • Rookie Defender Tyler Lassiter, who saw some Open Cup time earlier this season he probably shouldn't have, is headed to the NASL-leading Carolina RailHawks on loan. Lassiter is from Wake Forest, so a few games with the Cary-based team could be a nice homecoming.
  • In more reporting I'm stealing from the Post, Soler wants Frank Rost back next season, despite his age. Good news, though: A designated player spot is not a dealbreaker for a more permanent stay and if a deal can be worked out, look for Soler to exercise the team's option on his contract for next season. According to Soler, Rost "loves it here."
