The Red Bulls' Injury Situation

Getting the call in Conde's absence this Sunday.

The Red Bulls are heading into tomorrow's season opener against FC Dallas with some personnel issues.

We all know about Luke Rodgers' visa situation, but Rafael Marquez is going to serve the second game of his suspension for the post-game scuffle after the first leg of the MLS Cup quarterfinal against the LA Galaxy most Red Bulls fans would rather forget. Wilman Conde, who played all of 20 minutes in the preseason, is also out with a thigh injury.

As for the walking wounded, the team's official site reports Ryan Meara, who broke his nose in the final game of the preseason against Real Salt Lake, figures to start, though he could wear a mask, and Jan Gunnar Solli has an undisclosed injury, but should be ready.

The team's official game notes (like to a .pdf) lists the line-up as Meara; Roy Miller, Stephen Keel, Markus Holgersson, Solli, Joel Lindpere, Teemu Tainio, Dax McCarty, Dane Richards, Thierry Henry, Kenny Cooper.

As far as the bench goes, the New York Post is reporting Victor Palsson, who tore his meniscus, should be ready Sunday after some light training this week. It should be noted, Tainio only played the full 90 in the first of the Arizona preseason matches, so he could be an early substitution candidate. The Post also reported that Conde should be ready for the team's St. Patrick's Day match-up with RSL.
