Sky Blue FC have officially confirmed the dates for the club’s 2017 open tryouts. Players interested in playing for the New Jersey side should come out for a shot at making the team’s roster. Tryouts this year will be held on March 1-2 at a location to be announced later.

The open tryout period is an opportunity for players who are without a team to try to earn a spot in preseason camp. Although few players break a team’s roster this way, last year’s tryouts were especially rewarding for Sky Blue.

Defender Erin Simon, midfielder Kelly Conheeney and forward Danielle Schulmann were all signed to Sky Blue FC after coming to the team through the tryout process. Simon had a standout year that saw her starting 18 games, and she ended the season ranked fourth on the team in minutes played. Although Conheeney’s time on the field was not as extensive as Simon’s, she did contribute to the team’s success when she scored the game-winning goal for Sky Blue FC in their season-opening victory over Seattle Reign FC.

The first day of tryouts will run from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with player check-in beginning at 10:00 a.m. The second day of tryouts will be by invite only starting at 11:00 a.m. Times are subject to change, but participants will be notified of any changes. Online registration is currently open, and the cost for tryouts is $90.

Any player interested in taking part must register online by Tuesday, February 28. All participants must be at least 18 years old, will be required to sign a liability waiver and must bring proof of medical insurance.
