Honduras and Mexico are through to the Classification Stage of the 2017 CONCACAF U-20 Championship, but this match will determine which team moves on as the winner of Group A and which must settle for the runner-up spot.
This is also, perhaps, the first major test of Mexico's tournament-favorite credentials. El Tri has swaggered through two games, scoring eight goals and conceding none. A 3-0 win over Antigua and Barbuda was followed by an even more imposing 5-0 win over Canada. Along the way, Ronaldo Cisneros has staked an early claim to the tournament's Golden Boot with four goals in those two games.
Honduras enjoyed a more modest win over Canada - 1-0 - and made a 4-1 win over Antigua and Barbuda look a little more difficult than expected. But the Hondurans are expected to be the first team able to challenge the perception that Mexico is on its way to another regional U-20 title.
Honduran forward Douglas Martinez will join New York Red Bulls II after this tournament. He scored against Antigua and Barbuda (and assisted on his team's third goal).
