No advance on the news that Red-Bull-in-exile, Anatole Abang, is hoping to land a deal with Etoile du Sahel, but his Instagram account assures us that he is indeed in Tunisia with the club.
The transfer window in Tunisia is closed, so Abang is either working toward a summer deal, or perhaps he will be released from his contract with the New York Red Bulls. The club still lists Abang on its official roster, and stills lists him as "loaned out". Abang's season-long loan to Danish club Hobro IK was terminated in January, 2017. In early February, Kristian Dyer reported for Metro (no relation) that Abang would not be returning to MLS, but would instead stay in Europe to explore other options. Tunisia is not in Europe, but Etoile du Sahel is surely another option.
Historically one of the more successful clubs in Tunisian soccer, Etoile du Sahel routinely supplies players to the Tunisia national team. If Abang is successful in his bid to join the team, he'll be back in a squad that expects to see its better players win international call-ups, which should be good for his hopes of winning back his place on the Cameroon Men's National Team roster.
