Per Simon Preston’s Reggae Boyz Commentary YouTube channel and supported by Irie FM’s Dwight Fraser, Jamaica has announced a 22-man squad for its November 17 CONCACAF Nations League qualifier against Suriname.
Perhaps the most surprising name on the roster is 33-year-old MLS veteran Jermaine Taylor, currently without a club but a player well known to Reggae Boyz head coach Theodore Whitmore.
Among the less surprising selections is New York Red Bulls left back Kemar Lawrence. The squad also includes former NYRB II midfielder and three-time USL Cup winner, Devon “Speedy” Williams.
Jamaica is currently sixth in the 2019-20 CONCACAF Nations League Qualifying table, with six points from two games. The Reggae Boyz have yet to concede a goal in the competition, but that is perhaps as expected given their first two opponents were Cayman Islands and Bonaire. Suriname will be expected to provide a sterner test.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 7:00 pm, Eastern, at the Catherine Hall Stadium in Montego Bay on Saturday, November 17.
