Costa Rica and Honduras tied, 1-1, in the opening game of Group G in the Qualification Stage of the 2018 CONCACAF Men’s U-20 Championship.

If this game has a winner, that winner will be the first team to qualify for the 2019 U-20 World Cup from this three-team group. The favorite to be that winner is certainly the USA. The young Americans are technically the home team at this tournament - since it is being hosted by the IMG Academy in Florida - and played irrepressible soccer throughout the Group Stage, scoring 39 goals and conceding only two over the course of five consecutive wins.

Costa Rica won all its Group Stage games too, and did so without conceding a goal, but the team conceded pretty quickly to Honduras in its last game - proving Los Ticos’ defense is not impregnable.

The USA is the favorite to win this game, this Qualification Stage group, and this tournament. If Costa Rica does anything to challenge those assumptions, it has done well.
