Martinique has progressed somewhat quietly through the first two round of 2019-20 CONCACAF Nations League Qualifying, winning both its games without compiling the gaudy goal differences of some of its rivals for CNL League A and 2019 Gold Cup spots.
A low goal difference might be problematic if Martinique needs tiebreakers to separate it from another side in the final reckoning of the 34-team CNL Qualifying table, but for now there need be little worry about that: Martinique has maximum points from two games and has yet to concede a goal in this tournament.
A third consecutive win would make Martinique a firm favorite for a top-six finish in this competition and the League A and Gold Gup berths that come with that distinction - so this is a game to keep an eye on as it may establish Les Matinino as front-runners in CNL Qualifying heading into the final round of matches.
Antigua and Barbuda will boost its own faltering chances of at least nabbing a Gold Cup spot if it can beat Martinique. The Benna Boys are playing catch-up in CNL Qualifying after an opening-round loss to St Lucia. Their 6-0 win over Bonaire in the last round of games did little to convince anyone they’ll be among the top teams in this tournament after four rounds of matches - but a win in this game would send a message that the Benna Boys are in form.
