Reports: Potential New York Red Bulls trialist training with Hearts

Killian Colombie might feature in RBNY’s future, if Hearts don’t nab him first.

Killian Colombie had an eye-catching 2018 season in PDL (since rebranded USL League Two) with AHFC Royals, tallying 10 goals and five assists in 13 appearances.

He also had strong senior year for Iona College - seven goals and three assists in 18 appearances - receiving First Team All-MAAC honors. Unsurprisingly, the 23-year-old winger is on the hunt for a pro deal. He has already trained with Houston Dynamo, reports The Ionian, and has a series of winter tryouts lined up - including an invitation to a New York Red Bulls combine.

He told The Ionian he was keen to find a way to MLS “somehow”, ideally via the SuperDraft. But Colombie is French and was attached to the Paris Saint-Germain youth set-up before moving to the USA, so he should not be without options to consider in Europe. The first of those options, reported by The Ionian, is the opportunity to train at Scottish Premiership club Heart of Midlothian.

Colombie has since landed in Edinburgh and his presence has not gone unnoticed by the Scottish press. Hearts have not been shy about scouting the USA for talent recently, signing RBNY Academy goalkeeper Wojciech Gajda in 2017 (he has since moved on to Poland’s lower leagues), and snapping up former USA youth international ‘keeper Kevin Silva earlier this year.

Edinburgh Live reports Colombie has had his first run-out with Hearts reserves and appears generally positive about his performance.
