While we don’t yet know if the New York Red Bulls will even make it to the CONCACAF Champions League Quarter-Finals, we now know who their opponent would be: Liga MX powerhouse Club Tijuana/
On Tuesday night, Tijuana held CD Montagua of Honduras to a 1-1 draw at home, which was good enough for them to advance to the Quarter-Finals on a 2-1 aggregate.
As was pre-determined by the initial draw, Tijuana will host the first leg of the two-game series at Estadio Caliente between March 6-8, with the second leg taking place the following week between March 13-15.
Despite their current position on the Liga MX Clausura table, Tijuana lead the Mexican league in scoring defense, allowing just five goals in nine games.
This year is Tijuana’s 2nd appearance in the tournament. Their last appearance came in the 2013-14 Champions League, where they made it to the Semi-Finals before falling to eventual tournament winners Cruz Azul.
