New York Red Bulls' Felipe Martins and Gonzalo Veron make 2016-17 CONCACAF Champions League Team of Round 1

RBNY's win over Antigua in round one of CCL 2016-17 has won some praise for a couple of its players.

Round One of the 2016-17 CONCACAF Champions League group stage is over, and the federation has named a Best XI for the round. The New York Red Bulls have two players selected.

Congrats, Felipe Martins and Gonzalo Veron!

RBNY's 3-0 win over Antigua GFC clearly impressed CONCACAF.

The Player of the Round is Pumas' Luis Quintana. Real Esteli's long-suffering (the Nicaraguan side is a CCL group stage regular) 'keeper Justo Lorente picks up the Goalkeeper of the Round honors.

The Red Bulls will be in action again in Round Two, traveling to El Salvador to play Alianza on August 16.

Four of the five MLS teams in this year's CCL were in action in Round One. All four - Portland Timbers, Vancouver Whitecaps, RBNY, and FC Dallas - won their opening games of the tournament. But only RBNY and FCD (who had Maynor Figueroa selected) had players in the Best XI for this round.
