Report: Ralf Rangnick confirms no current contact with England

The Leipzig sporting director isn't discussing a new job with England, he says.

In the build-up to RB Leipzig's 2-1 win over Augsburg, Ralf Rangnick spoke to Sky about the recent rumor connecting him to England's managerial vacancy.

"No contact" was the somewhat conclusive quote from the Leipzig sporting director, though he did confirm he knows FA Technical Director Dan Ashworth and had discussed the job the last time it was was available - but that the FA had ultimately decided to go with an English coach (Sam Allardyce).

Rangnick has been allowed to create a global soccer club modeled on his soccer principles and priorities. His focus is RB Leipzig, but his influence is visible across the family of teams that comprise Red Bull Global Soccer. He is not ruling out the possibility of taking another job at some point in the future, nor denying that he discussed the England position when it was open this summer, but the Red Bulls' RalfBall project seems safe, for now.
