Arguably the weakest team to qualify from the CONCACAF U-20 Championship for this World Cup, Costa Rica is up against what some observers have pegged as the strongest of the contenders from Asian Football Confederation.

Iran was a mere semifinalist at the 2016 AFC U-19 Championship; Costa Rica qualified for this tournament on goal difference. With well-regarded Portugal and AFCON U-20 champ Zambia in their group, it feels like Iran and Costa Rica are playing off for third place in Group C - but with four third-placed teams from the group stage advancing to the knockout stages, three points from this game could be enough to put one of these teams into the round of 16.
