It was only a few days ago that Kristian Dyer revealed to MSG viewers that the New York Red Bulls might be on the hunt for another attacking player. That revelation gives a little more credence to the suggestion - floated at the top of an interview with the player by Nice-Matin on May 13 - Alexy Bosetti has attracted the interest of RBNY.
Who is Alexy Bosetti? He's a 24-year-old attacking player who won the 2013 U-20 World Cup with France. He was a bench player for that France squad - a roster that included Paul Pogba, Yaya Sanogo, and Geoffrey Kondogbia. And he has since been squeezed out of a Nice squad that is expected to re-tool itself this summer for the 2017-18 UEFA Champions League.
Bosetti is from Nice and has been attached to his local club since 2009, but it's time to move on. His first-team minutes peaked in the 2014-15 season, and he spent this season playing for the reserves.
He does seem to be the sort of young-ish, fallen-off-the-radar talent that RBNY might conceivably have a look at. But the most recent reports on Bosetti have him heading to Servette in Swiss soccer's second tier.
The deal isn't done, but Bosetti told Tribune de Geneve, "I do not worry about that. It is already well advanced."
No Bosetti for RBNY, it would appear. But perhaps interesting to note the rumor mill had already connected the Red Bulls to an attacking player before it was broadly understood they might have such a player on their summer shopping list.
